Code of conduct

The short version
Mainstage is for everyone who builds things. Be kind, be curious, and treat the people around you the way you would want a new colleague to be treated. If something is wrong, tell us and we will act.
Who this covers
Everyone at the event: attendees, speakers, sponsors, volunteers, staff and suppliers. It applies in the venue, at the evening events, in workshops and in the online spaces we run.
What we expect
- Listen, and let other people finish.
- Ask before you take a close-up photo of someone or share what they said in a private conversation.
- Keep sponsor booths and hallway conversations free of pressure. No means no, the first time.
- Look out for each other. If someone seems uncomfortable, check in or tell a member of staff.
What is not acceptable
- Harassment of any kind, including unwelcome comments about someone's gender, sexuality, disability, appearance, race, religion or age.
- Intimidation, stalking, unwelcome physical contact or sexual attention.
- Sexual or violent images in talks, at booths or on screens, unless agreed with the programme team beforehand.
- Repeatedly interrupting talks or other people's conversations.
If you are asked to stop, stop. We do not hold debates about it on the day.
How to report
- Speak to anyone wearing a staff badge, or go to the registration desk.
- Write to hello@mainstage.events. During the event this inbox is read all day.
- Call +351 21 555 0142 if it is urgent.
You can report something that happened to you or something you saw. Tell us as much or as little as you want.
What happens next
Reports are handled by two members of the organising team and kept confidential. We will listen, make sure you are safe, and decide what to do together with you where we can.
Enforcement
Depending on what happened we may give a warning, ask someone to leave a session, or remove them from the event without a refund. Speakers and sponsors are held to the same rules.
